Cannetum – ARC experimental archeology park

Take a walk through history, discovering the lifestyles of our ancestors from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages. This is the experience one has when visiting the ARC experimental archaeological museum or participating in one of its courses.

This interesting site has a museum building and an open-air park with reproductions of working objects and models of Iron Age and Longobard huts and a Castrum. There are many surprises in store, including scale reconstructions of medieval weapons such as the large catapult with bow.

The museum venue

The museum offers an interesting collection of artefacts from the area and reconstructions of objects from different eras. On site, there is also a rich archaeological and historical multimedia library available to visitors.

The park

Opened in 2013, the park offers an interesting historical habitat from protohistory to the Middle Ages. Here it is possible to visit residential, defensive and cult structures from different eras. Many courses are offered to get into the spirit of the different eras: bow making, the use of stone axes, flint chipping, fire making, pottery making and firing, bronze and silver casting and weaving.

There is a teaching garden, which can be used for themed courses. Tours and courses on natural environments, architecture in history, orientations and the study of astronomy are also organised. Historical archery competitions are also offered.

The centre has an indoor area for teaching and courses even in bad weather. Also recommended for school groups.
