The route, of evident historical and cultural interest, offers an overview of the places of origin of the “anchoiers”, the sellers of preserved fish in Celle di Macra, whose activity has strongly characterized this territory since the second half of the nineteenth century.

For a long time the anchovy-making trade was practiced seasonally, but after the war it became an activity that was no longer itinerant, marking the transition from seasonal to permanent emigration.

In the hamlets located along the itinerary you will find the homes of families of anchovies who still currently practice the trade on the markets, but who still continue to maintain a strong link with their native land.
