(12) Birrone, Melle and Ciabra hills MTB Loop

The ring starts in San Damiano Macra, where you go up the valley of Pagliero, to then intercept the road to Borgata Fracchie. You then take a dirt road and turn off before the Paolini hamlet for a forest road. At the crossroads you can choose whether to go left along a path that is sometimes not very easy or right for the hamlet of Serre, but both roads lead to Borgata Chesta. From the hamlet a dirt road leads to the Birrone hill, where you take the “road of cannons” towards Valmala. At a wide back, after about 3 km, follow the path that climbs towards Colle di Melle. Once arrived, continue towards the Maira-Varaita watershed passing through the Cornet and Ciabra mountains. This section can be avoided by continuing on the main road. At the Ciabra pass, cross the military road, continuing on a single track along the hillside and then downhill which leads to the small church of San Chiaffredo. Take the path near the equipped area, which descends through the villages of Biancera, Cogno and Chiabrera, then continuing on an agricultural track. Shortly after Chaudieres you go up following the road to San Damiano Macra.
