SAFFRON PRODUCT TASTING WORKSHOP in CELLE DI MACRA Sunday, MAY 24, 2026
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, starting at 5:45 PM, a new tasting workshop will be held in Celle di Macra dedicated to a product of particular excellence: saffron and its derivatives.
The Saffron Product Tasting Workshop will be led by ZAF ZAF farm from Borgata Galliana in Cartignano, which will share the unique characteristics of this spice that boasts a rich and fascinating history, having influenced different cultures and civilizations throughout the centuries.
Its origin dates back approximately 3,500 years to the arid and sunny lands of Asia Minor, spreading first to ancient Persia and then throughout the world. Among Middle Eastern peoples, it was used both in the kitchens of important figures and as a pigment for dyeing fabrics.
This precious red gold is renowned for its luminous filaments and distinctive aroma that gives dishes a unique flavor, and for this reason, it is increasingly appreciated in culinary preparations.
Not only in Milanese risotto or Spanish paella, today saffron is incorporated into many products such as liqueurs, biscuits, and desserts.
Saffron also boasts health benefits that have been studied in recent years.
The workshop will be an opportunity to deepen both theoretical and practical knowledge of this spice.
The event is organized by the Municipalities of Macra and Celle di Macra, in collaboration with the Ecomuseum of Alta Valle Maira and with the support of the Vocational Training Agency of Dronero
The saffron product tasting workshop will be held at the CULTURAL LAB in Borgata Chiesa, Celle di Macra, and will begin at 5:45 PM.
