A walk through nature and culture

A new appointment in Celle di Macra with the WALK THROUGH NATURE AND CULTURE, dedicated to the environment and the natural and built landscape of part of the Celle territory. This event is part of the “Environmental Sustainability Days” series.
Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the afternoon, a walk will be offered to discover the natural and scenic treasures of the hamlets of Celle located on the left orographic side of the Intersile Valley, between the main village and the stream of the same name.
The tour begins in Borgata Chiesa with a visit to the Parish Church of S. Giovanni Battista, featuring the Hans Clemer polyptych, followed by a tour of the village where you can admire the house with a medieval fresco by Baleison, the community oven, and the structure once used as an apiary for the Rectory.
The route descends towards the Rio Intersile, passing through Borgata Paschero to admire the Chapel dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, houses with frescoes by Giors Boneto, and several huts with round columns. From here, the path continues down the valley through an area still rich in meadows and once cultivated with fruit trees, reaching Borgata Bassura.
In this alpine village, among the first settlements of Celle, you can admire the Chapel dedicated to Saints Vitalis and Chiaffredo with its facade frescoed by Panero, the “consul’s house,” and a series of buildings that still maintain the typical characteristics of local mountain huts. The walk continues to the settlement of Mattalia, one of the four nuclei forming Borgata Bassura, before heading back up to Borgata Chiesa.
The walk is aimed at a diverse audience, including children and families, young people, and adults passionate about the environment and the landscape of the Maira Valley.
The day will conclude with a snack for everyone featuring local products tasted in Borgata Chiesa.
The activity is organized in collaboration with the Chamin guides.
Sportswear (hiking boots) is recommended.
