Mont Oronaye via ferrata
It was the Alpine troops in the 1930s who created the route of the Mont Oronaye via ferrata, on the watershed of the French border. Built for military purposes, it still shows two perfectly preserved masonry shelters
The access to the via ferrata is in the upper Maira valley, in Acceglio, past the hamlet of Viviere.
After years of neglect, a difficult job of restoring safety was recently carried out thanks to the work of mountain guide Nino Perino. The exclusively mountaineering ferrata has been restored in an attempt to maintain and preserve the historical characteristics of the route as much as possible.
Now, experienced mountaineers can experience the thrill of this historic ascent again. Will you be among them?
