Il Colorado Crag

A panoramic crag perched on a steep slope overlooking the valley below. It is a sunny and generally warm location (south-facing), even though it is in a mountain setting (1,300 m), making it ideal for the shoulder seasons as well as summer.
The rock is a compact quartzite of excellent quality, and the climbing is predominantly technical on walls. Some pitches are cracks and are suitable for trad climbing. The crag is nonetheless fully bolted, with pitches ranging from 4 to 7b, for a total of approximately 15 pitches.
The crag is divided into two sectors, although it is the same structure.
The upper sector is reached via a steep gully equipped with fixed ropes.
The access is from the San Peyre church (San Pietro) in Stroppo, where you can park at the hairpin bend. From there, take the path to the left of the church (part of the Percorsi Occitani) which makes a long traverse across the slope in an easterly direction. Once you reach a large white rock scree slope, follow the faint tracks upwards, and in a few minutes, you will reach the base of the crag. Approximately 25–30 minutes from the car.
