WOOD CARVING COURSE in CELLE DI MACRA MAY 18-20, 2026, part of the RiattivaMenti Project

Monday, May 18, the Wood Carving Course will begin in Celle di Macra, Valle Maira, aimed at deserving students from AFP classes.

The three-day course offers participating students a journey into the discovery of wood carving, with theoretical activities alternating with practical sessions.

On Monday, the group of students will visit the house museum of sculptor Aimar Matteo (Batista) in Borgata Paschero; a former AFP student, he will guide the students through his works and the workshop where they are created.

The course includes theoretical and practical activities led by expert sculptors from the “Lj poeta del bosch” Association of Bernezzo, held in the evocative location of CANTUNAL: Alpine Construction Laboratory in Borgata Castellaro.

The theoretical and practical lessons will be interspersed with activities to learn about the local area, and creative workshop evenings are also planned.

The course is organized in collaboration with the AFP.

The RiattivaMenti Project, presented by the Municipality of Celle di Macra as the lead partner, involves the participation of the Municipalities of Macra, Prazzo, Elva, Marmora, Canosio, Stroppo, and Villar San Costanzo, as well as Uncem Piemonte, Centro Studi Cultura e Territorio APS, Associazione Chaliar ODV, Associazione Luoghi di Passaggio APS, Associazione Escarton APS, and the Valle Maira Youth Council.

The RiattivaMenti Project, which includes this course, was funded by the Piedmont Region through the Youth Policy Fund as part of the regional initiative “Piemonte per i Giovani” (Piedmont for Youth) in accordance with Regional Law 6/2019.
