Saturday, July 25 in Celle di Macra Concert by “QUBA LIBRE” – 9TH CINE&MUSICA E… FESTIVAL AT THE ECOMUSEUM OF UPPER VALLE MAIRA

SATURDAY, JULY 25 at 5:00 PM in Celle di Macra, in Borgata Castellaro, concert by the musical group “QUBA LIBRE” for the third event of the 9TH CINE&MUSICA E….. FESTIVAL AT THE ECOMUSEUM OF UPPER VALLE MAIRA.

This year the FESTIVAL includes 10 entertainment events scheduled during the months of July and August in the Ecomuseum municipalities, ranging from concerts to film forums for children, teenagers, and families.

The festival features a series of events combining music and cinema held in evocative outdoor spaces or in some ecomuseum sites in magnificent mountain settings of Valle Maira, to share moments of gathering where aspects of local culture meet the universal languages of cinema and music to create an unforgettable collective experience.

The musical group Quba Libre was born from a 2010 project arising from the artistic encounter of two multi-instrumentalists from Cuneo, Simonetta Baudino and Giuseppe Quattromini.

The group’s name is an original play on words that combines the first syllables of the founders’ surnames (Quattromini and Baudino) with the Occitan term libre, meaning “free”. Simonetta Baudino, originally from Elva in upper Valle Maira, is an esteemed master of the hurdy-gurdy and diatonic accordion, also honored with the prestigious title of “mestre”.

Giuseppe Quattromini accompanies the traditional melodies skillfully alternating between guitar, accordion, recorder, and harmonica.

Their rich repertoire ranges from the hypnotic rhythms of traditional Occitan dances to original compositions and modern arrangements, capable of transforming the concert’s soundtrack into a true anthropological journey through the notes of Alpine culture.

The QuBa Libre concert is held on the occasion of the Feast of Sant’Anna with the historic Baìo di Castellaro, thus combining the driving force of Occitan music with the celebration of one of the oldest and most cherished traditional festivals in the Valle Maira territory.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Celle di Macra and Pro Loco Seles.
