NATURE AND CULTURE WALKS DISCOVERING CELLE DI MACRA SUNDAY, MAY 24, 2026
New appointment on Sunday, May 24 in the afternoon, with the nature and culture walks discovering the hamlets of Celle di Macra in the area north of the main village Borgata Chiesa.
The guided walk will allow you to discover the distinctive features of the Celle di Macra territory overlooking the right orographic slope of Valle Maira with its hamlets, votive pillars and chapels, with particular attention to the natural, environmental, architectural, artistic and cultural characteristics.
The walk starts from Borgata Chiesa, where you can admire the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista with its Romanesque bell tower and the Polyptych by Flemish painter Hans Clemer, the communal oven, the former inn with the medieval painting of Baleison, the wash house and the former rectory with stone portals.
From here, you climb along the path that runs alongside the Seles Museum: Museum of Itinerant Trades, reaching the votive pillar above the village before turning toward Borgata Trucco, a small alpine hamlet consisting of a group of mountain huts arranged in terraces.
From here, you continue toward Borgata Ansoleglio where you can admire the Chapel of San Pietro in Vincoli, the house with the fresco of the Deposition by Giors Boneto, the communal oven, the votive pillar and houses with circular columns, once also adorned with single-light windows and portals.
You continue along the path to Lottulo and, after passing the Marcassa pillar with the portico in front of the frescoed façade, proceed to the Chapel of San Giacomo Maggiore, along the Path of Faith.
From here, you return to Borgata Chiesa.
The walk is easy and suitable for enthusiasts of all ages: families, young people, and adults. It is organized in collaboration with Chamin guides.
Meeting point in Celle di Macra, at Borgata Chiesa in front of the Parish Church.
Departure at 2:30 PM and arrival at 5:30 PM.
The walk is free of charge.
