NATURE AND CULTURE WALK IN CELLE DI MACRA Sunday, May 31, 2026

Sunday, May 31, 2026 in the afternoon, a new nature and culture walk will be offered to discover the localities and hamlets in the upper part of the Celle territory.

This activity is part of the B.R.I.C.A. Cultural and Social Regeneration Project – Resilient Villages of Cultural and Environmental Innovation funded by PNRR funds – Under the Borghi_Line of intervention B (M1C3.Measure 2. Investment 2.1).

The walk starts from Castellaro, the highest hamlet in the Municipality of Celle di Macra, which features a unique ancient medieval layout throughout the valley, with buildings positioned atop a hill adjacent to an imposing structure called Il Castello or Cantunal.

Here you can admire the alpine settlement with the Cantunal complex (medieval manor house with sail facades, mullioned windows and portals), the closed-type communal oven, and a series of ancient mountain huts with underpasses, single-light windows, stone portals and frescoes.

You will also be able to see the Chapel dedicated to Saint Anne with frescoes and a large portico where, at the end of July, during the patron saint’s feast, La Bajò di Castellaro is celebrated, a ritual feast of pagan origin later transformed over the centuries into a religious celebration that recalls the ancient medieval Abbeys.

From the top of the settlement, you climb along the path, which winds through trees and old cultivated fields, to reach Pian della Colla, one of the most evocative places from an environmental and landscape perspective in the Celle territory: a vast plateau from which you can enjoy a wide panorama of the Valley.

From here you return to Borgata Castellaro.

The walk is easy and suitable for enthusiasts of all ages: families, young people and adults, and is organized in collaboration with the Chamin Guides.

Departure at 2:30 PM and arrival at 5:30 PM.

The walk is free of charge.

Sportswear is recommended.

Meeting in Celle di Macra at 2:30 PM at Borgata Castellaro in front of the Chapel.

At the end of the walk, there is the possibility to participate (reservation required) in the Local Wine Tasting Workshop, which will be held at 5:45 PM at the Cantunal building.
