Tete de l’Homme

Tete de l’Homme

A loop hike that ascends the Infernetto valley towards Tête de l’Homme, one of the most panoramic peaks.

From Grange Collet, take the path that immediately gains altitude and continue through the meadows nestled in the western Infernetto valley. Upon reaching a junction, turn right to reach the Infernetto lakes.

Then, begin ascending a steep scree slope to reach the chain marking the start of the equipped section that leads to the Terre Nere pass [NB: Exercise particular caution on this stretch!!!]. Once at the pass, the Lac des Neuf Couleurs appears, enclosed between the Brec and the Aiguille de Chambeyron.

Ascending a rocky belt, you reach the Marinet valley and continue until you arrive at the summit of Tête de l’Homme. From here, the panorama is magnificent: you can see the Aiguille de Chambeyron, the Tête de la Frema, and the distant Buc de Nubiera.

Descend back to the Terre Nere pass and reach the Gippiera col. From here, descend to the Barenghi bivouac on the shores of the beautiful Vallonasso di Stroppia lake, the largest in the Maira Valley.

Continue by returning to the Infernetto col and complete the loop to return to Grange Collet following the initial path.
