Cugn di Goria

Classic climb to one of the iconic peaks of the Valley.
Starting point: Colle della Cavallina (1,941 m) – in the municipality of Elva
Highest point: Cugn di Goria (2,385 m)
Walking time: 3h30
Exposure: Variable
Route type: circular route
Route
Park at Colle della Cavallina and put on your snowshoes. The route starts directly from the snowy dirt road that continues toward Colle di Sampeyre.
Head up the wide open slopes following the ridge that leads to the altitude of 2,300–2,350 m. The terrain is regular and allows linear progression with snowshoes.
Following the steep slopes and very gentle ridges, you reach the rounded summit of Cugn di Goria (2,385 m), from which a very extensive panorama opens up over Monviso and the surrounding Alpine ranges.
From the summit, instead of returning by the same route, you can create a loop using the snowy road toward Colle di Sampeyre and then descend in the direction of Colle della Cavallina. This allows for a gentler descent to close the itinerary.
ATTENZIONE: L’escursionismo invernale, come tutte le attività outdoor, è potenzialmente pericoloso.
