On foot

The dino icardi trail

The dino icardi trail

The route passes on the slopes of Brec de Chambeyron, the highest peak of the Maira Valley, crossing the most beautiful and wild places of the Upper Maira Valley.

The path is named after Dino Icardi, a mountaineer from Drone who passed away in 1988.

Leaving the car near the Base Camp, we set off in the direction of the Stroppia Refuge near the Stroppia Waterfalls of the same name and, traveling along the entire Vallonasso di Stroppia, we reach the Barenghi Bivouac. Then take the path that runs along the western branches of the Cima della Finestra di Stroppia, an excellent panoramic point, and continues towards Lago della Finestra.

Once you arrive on Colle dell’Infernetto, the path descends rather steeply and for this reason there are some steps and fixed ropes that help the descent. Once you reach the Valle dell’Infernetto you can see the lake of the same name and going further down you will find the Baracca del Bergè.

Following the course of the Maurin stream, descending along the orographic right, you come across the starting crossroads again and proceed in the direction of the Senza Frontiere campsite of Chiappera and beyond returning to the Base Camp.
