Acceglio loop

Acceglio loop

Simple loop hike that develops behind Acceglio, in the upper Maira valley.

This simple circular route on the mountain behind Acceglio starts just above the square in front of the tourist office; from there, take the road on the right which, crossing a small wood, rejoins the provincial road.

Once there, take the path on the right which goes up the side of the Vallone di Traversiera, until you reach the Grange Vernet. Here the landscape offers a splendid view of the Vallone del Maurin and the nearby valley of Unerzio, as well as Frere and Acceglio.

From here you continue in a south-easterly direction descending towards the Mongardino granges and from there you continue until you return to Acceglio, reaching it from behind and popping up at its pretty church.

In Acceglio it is possible to visit the Museum of Sacred Art of the upper Maira Valley, where paintings, altarpieces, statues, votive images and miniatures are kept.
