Summer 2026 in Preit di Canosio

The Pro Loco Preit Tourism Association presents the Summer 2026 calendar, a rich program of events that will enliven the hamlet of Preit, in the Municipality of Canosio, with events dedicated to tradition, culture, sports, gastronomy, and entertainment for all ages.

The program kicks off on Saturday, July 25 with the 4th Davide Re Memorial, a day dedicated to the pétanque tournament, accompanied by lunch at the Bocciofilo and dinner in the evening.

On Saturday, August 8, culture takes center stage with a meeting with author Diego Crestani and the inauguration of the open-air library “La cabaneto dóu libre”. In the evening, the traditional “All You Can Eat” Polenta Feast will be accompanied by Occitan dances and entertainment by the group Lou Celhà.

The highlight of the summer will be Sunday, August 9, with the 59th Historical Re-enactment of the Abbey of San Lorenzo al Preit. The day will begin with the Solemn Holy Mass and the procession through the streets of the hamlet, followed by the blessing of the children. At noon, the auction of local products will take place, while the traditional Bajò Lunch will bring together residents and visitors. In the afternoon, the evocative Search for the New Abbà will take place, with the exchange of the hat and the greeting of the new Abbà, accompanied by music from the Morettese Philharmonic Society.

Wednesday, August 12 will be dedicated to the little ones with Children’s Day: sport climbing, lunch together, games, a walk with alpacas, and the traditional evening torchlight procession with mulled wine and herbal teas.

Friday, August 14 will bring the Youth Festival, with the Mario Bollino Memorial five-a-side football tournament, the Midsummer Night with barbecue, beer, live music, and the classic midnight spaghetti.

The program will conclude on Sunday, August 16 with the 89th Alpine Commemoration at the Rocca La Meja Memorial, which includes Holy Mass at the memorial plaque and the traditional polenta feast at the celebration center.

A summer full of events celebrating Alpine traditions, Occitan culture, good food, and community spirit, offering opportunities for gathering and entertainment immersed in the splendid scenery of Valle Maira.
