SECOND NATURE AND CULTURE WALK DISCOVERING MACRA SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2025

Second appointment with the nature and culture walks discovering the hamlets of Macra, scheduled during the San Marcellino Fair and included in the B.R.I.C.A. Project implemented by the Municipalities of Celle di Macra and Macra in collaboration with the Ecomuseum of Upper Valle Maira.

The guided walk will allow you to discover the unique features of the territory and hamlets, with particular attention to the natural, environmental, architectural, artistic, and cultural characteristics of these ancient Alpine settlements and their surrounding context.

The walk starts from Bedale hamlet, where you can admire the Gauteri shrine, the Chapel dedicated to Saint James, the ancient oven, and the Mattalia Mill.

Following the Bedale stream, you will ascend along the Cyclamen trail to reach Langra hamlet, where you can admire the Chapel and the ancient mill. Continue to Caricatori hamlet with its beautiful cottages, where remains of round columns from buildings once used for storing provisions can still be seen.

Continue along the road that crosses a wooded area until you reach Villar hamlet, where the Parish Church of San Marcellino Papa stands, along with the Gauteri votive pillar and cottages with traces of ancient frescoes.

Return to Bedale hamlet, passing through the vineyard where the Chapel of San Pietro stands, containing the famous medieval cycle of Dance of Death frescoes.

The walk is easy and suitable for enthusiasts of all ages: families, young people, and adults. It is organized in collaboration with Chamin guides.

 

Meeting point in Macra, Bedale hamlet, in front of the infoecopoint, in Municipio square.

Departure at 2:30 PM and arrival at 5:30 PM.
