Maira Occitan Trail 2026

A running journey into the pristine heart of the Maira Valley

The Maira Occitan Trail (MOT) returns for its 2026 edition, offering runners and outdoor enthusiasts an unforgettable adventure immersed in nature, featuring forests, alpine hamlets, and breathtaking views of the Occitan valleys.

• Where: Maira Valley (Start and Trail Village at the Marmora-Canosio junction, Cuneo, Piedmont)

The 2026 Edition Routes

1. MOT 42K – Meja Occitan Trail

   • Distance: 42 km

   • Elevation gain: 2,650 m D+

   • Start: 8:00 AM

   • Description: The flagship challenge that circles the majestic Rocca la Meja. A spectacular route designed for the most experienced runners.

2. MOT 19K – Viol Occitan Trail

   • Distance: 19 km

   • Elevation gain: 1,330 m D+

   • Start: 9:00 AM

   • Description: An experience accessible to amateurs, perfect for those wishing to experience the magic of the Viol Occitano trails over a shorter distance.

3. 🥾 MOT – Occitan Walk

   • Distance: 6 km | Elevation gain: 300 m D+

   • Start: 10:00 AM

   • Description: A non-competitive walk open to everyone (companions, hikers, and families) entirely dedicated to the pleasure of walking, slow living, and discovering the local area and its charming hamlets.

4. 🔥 NEW FOR 2026: MOT Kids

   • Target audience: Children and teenagers aged 6 to 12

   • Distance: 1.95 km | Elevation gain: 100 m D+

   • Start: 10:45 / 11:00 AM

   • Description: A non-competitive promotional race on a fully marked and supervised loop, designed to let little ones experience the thrill of trail running in total safety!
