MARGHERITA SCIDDURLO – organ

She graduated with top honors in Organ and Organ Composition with G. Salvatori and in Harpsichord with V. Alcalay (2nd level Academic Diploma) at the “N. Piccinni” Conservatory in Bari. She attended masterclasses with various teachers, including E. Kooiman, J. Galard, M. Bonet, and at the “Madonna della Scala” Abbey (BA) she deepened her study of Gregorian chant with distinguished masters: B. Baroffio, Fr. A. Susca, O. Mischiati. Passionate about organ building, she works to protect historic organs by promoting restorations and initiatives to enhance the organ heritage. She is artistic director of the International Organ Festival “Concerti di Santa Maria del Passo” in Mola di Bari on the historic “Petrus de Simone” instrument from 1747. Her concert activity has led her to perform at important organ festivals in Italy and abroad (the “Wienerwald Orgel Fest” in Vienna, the “Musikalische Hohepunkte Konzerte Gottesdienste” in Lilienfeld, in Mexico, Germany, Spain and the United States). In search of new sounds and effects, she has performed in unusual duos: organ and saxophone, four-hand organ with an original repertoire of unpublished and transcribed music. She has released three CDs for soprano saxophone and organ in collaboration with Pietro Tagliaferri: “Riverberi”, “Riverberi nello spazio e nel tempo” and “Souls Reflections”. The CDs, produced by the Stradivarius label, contain transcriptions and unpublished pieces by various composers: S. Amato M. Berzolla, N. Campogrande, G. Donati, P. Marrone, K. De Pastel, L. Polato, G. Salvatori. Alongside her concert and research activities, she also teaches; she holds the chair of Organ and Organ Composition at the “Nino Rota” Conservatory in Monopoli. She has published several teaching methods and recently “Giochiamo con i ritmi e con i suoni” published by Mario Adda, aimed at spreading music in primary schools.

LUIGI MORLEO – Italian percussionist and composer

He lives and works in Bari and is a professor at the Piccinni Conservatory in Bari. In 1992 he won the 1st Prize for Percussionists “Valerio Bucci” organized by the percussionists of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. From 1987 to 1991 he was a percussionist with the Orchestra of the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; from 1992 to 1994 he was first percussionist, then timpanist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Provincial Administration of Bari, subsequently timpanist of the Orchestra Società dei Concerti in Bari with which he toured Europe, Japan and China. At the same time, he pursues significant solo, compositional and conducting activities, invited to International Festivals in Italy and abroad; in 1998 he made his debut in the United States at the Forum Composer at New York University in Manhattan, New York (USA), subsequently at PASIC 2001 (Percussive Art Society International Convention) in Nashville, TN – (USA) as well as winner of the 3rd Composition Prize 2001 of the same PAS (Percussive Art Society), the 2nd Composition Prize 2002 for Percussion Instruments “Il Timpano d’Oro” and the 1st Composition Prize 2002 “Musica e Ironia” of Tatcus Fugit.; he was invited to the Conservatoire National Superior Geneva (Switzerland), Conservatoire National Regional Lyon (France), New York University (USA), Akademia Muzyczna in Gdansk (Poland), University of Miskolc-Béla Bartok Music Institute (Hungary), Muzikos Akademija of Kaunas (Lithuania), Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Belgium). The Organi vespera concert series has for years welcomed some of the most renowned organists on the European scene, while involving this instrument in musical programs characterized by the variety of repertoire and ensembles.

The organ is thus included, for example, in a reading dedicated to the fascination of the sacred literature of Saint Augustine curated in collaboration with actress Elena Zegna; paired in duo with the voice of contralto Vincenzo Franchini, the trumpet of Mauro Pavese, the percussion of Luigi Morleo or the saxophone of Christian Summa; combined in trio with clarinetists Nicola and Raffaele Bertolini; or involved in quartet together with flutist Ubaldo Rosso, violist Vera Anfossi, cellist Milena Punzi.

A series of combinations ready to enhance this instrument, through the interpretation of an extraordinarily rich and varied repertoire, naturally accompanied by recitals for solo organ, curated by Masters of this instrument such as Markku Mäkinen, Bartolomeo Gallizio, Zeno Bianchin.

A concert series that travels through genres and styles, Organi vespera will as usual benefit from the collaboration between the Association and the Vegezzi Bossi Company of Centallo, involving various historic organs in the province and including three events in which the organ of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Cuneo, a jewel of the Vegezzi Bossi heritage, will be played.
