Flying with the Bearded Vulture
Saturday, August 1st the Alpi Marittime Protected Areas offer a walk dedicated to discovering the bearded vulture and remembering Nino Perino, historic mountain guide of Valle Maira, ski instructor and Alpine Rescue volunteer, who passed away in December 2025.
The APAM management authority, together with some of Nino’s friends, invites you to meet at 9:30 AM at Rifugio Campo Base in Chiappera for a brief commemorative moment.
This will be followed by an easy hike, accompanied by park rangers and Park Guide Fabiano Sartirana, to Grange Collet, to observe the bearded vultures nesting in the Special Conservation Area Sorgenti del Maira, Bosco di Saretto, Rocca Provenzale and the young “Nino” born in 2026. A tribute to our departed friend so that his name may continue to soar among those mountains that were home throughout the life of the historic mountain guide from Acceglio.
